- Accessibility Information
- Adult Services
- Provides reference assistance and coordinated adult programming, including concerts, lectures, workshops and discussion series at the libraries. A monthly newsletter to the members offers information of interest on local, state and national issues.
- Automation Services
- Each member library has access to a regional database of all materials owned by member libraries, through the Upper Hudson Library Access Network (UHLAN). The system also provides circulation, electronic mail and Internet.
- Audiovisual Services
- Audiovisual materials such as audiocassettes, videos and CD's, and equipment such as TV/VCRs, projection TV monitors and LCD projectors, can be provided by UHLS.
- Collections
- The local library can augment its own collection with adult and juvenile fiction and non-fiction, audiocassettes, music CDs, videos, large print books on a rotating basis for patron use.
- Consultant Services
- UHLS consultants offer advice to member library staff and trustees on all aspects of library management, legal issues, regulations, standards, space planning, programming and current technologies.
- Courier Delivery Schedule
- Regular deliveries from UHLS to member libraries assure prompt receipt of new materials, interlibrary loans and supplemental collections.
- Interlibrary Loan/Reference
- Interlibrary loan patrons may request materials not owned by their local libraries from other UHLS member libraries, the Central Library (Albany Public Library), the UHLS collection, the New York State Library, regional academic and school libraries, and other libraries worldwide. Reference assistance is also provided, aided by access to Internet resources.
- Newsletter
- Outreach Services
- Programs to assist individuals whose needs cannot be met by traditional library services are provided through cooperation with member libraries, county jails, nursing homes, youth homes, community centers, and mental health facilities. Services
include large print books, assistance to the adult learner, and interpreter services.
- Pool Collections
- Listings of materials in the Professional Development pool collections.
- Youth Services
- Assists member libraries with youth services programming, including the statewide summer reading program. A Review Center enables librarians to preview recently published children's books.
