STORY TIME!

Each Wednesday, infants, toddlers and preschoolers (and their caregivers!) meet at 11:00 a.m. for Story Time at the Library.  Research shows that early exposure to books and libraries develops reading readiness and a lifelong love of learning and libraries.  In this half-hour session, we read aloud, sing songs, move about, and explore the world around us through literature.  Parents and children are encouraged to stay after story time so children have time for free play while grown-ups browse for books.

Registration is encouraged but not required.  For more information, stop by the Library or call us at 733-5750.

Story Time at the Stephentown Memorial Library is part of our Rural Reading Readiness Program, a grant-funded opportunity made possible through a Family Literacy Services Award from the New York State Library.

LIBRI FOUNDATION GRANT AWARD

The books are here!!!

Sixty-five brand new and beautiful books from the Libri Foundation have just arrived.  They are being processed by library staff and will be ready for display at our Grand Opening on Friday, February 22nd.

With a goal of strengthening our appeal to pre-teen and teenage readers, these books will give young readers plenty to explore, and perhaps persuade those less likely to read to give us a visit.  We are always happy to recommend books to young readers, and the Libri Foundation has provided us with some excellent choices.

Supporting the belief that early access to books promotes a life-long love of reading, the Libri Foundation – and those in our community who met their fundraising challenge – is making a significant difference to Stephentown.  Thank you!

The Monthly Adult Book Discussion Group now meets in the Meeting Room of the Stephentown Memorial Library every 1st Thursday at 1:00 pm.
