Featured Library Albany Public Library, theres a whole lot of shakin going on. Upper Hudsons largest member library is rocking into the future with the help of a new director and innovative new programs not to mention bulldozers, backhoes, and jackhammers. The Librarys administrative team, director Carol Nersinger and assistant director Tim Burke, has Albany Public Library reaching more than ever into the community with programs like Hispanic Heritage Month film showings, free cancer screenings, and a library health fair. The kids and teens have a lot to attract them, too book domino rallies, garage band concerts, and monster mashes. More than dominoes are falling in the three branch libraries under construction. Pine Hills, John A. Howe, and Delaware branches are all being renovated to provide bright new spaces. There are also two new libraries coming to town the Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch on Henry Johnson Blvd. and the John J. Bach Branch on New Scotland Avenue. While a branch library existed previously in a school on New Scotland, this new branch will have ample space for all age groups and feature a story garden. The Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch will boast green construction and green space both inside and outside the building. There are many more details about the librarys energetic programs and building projects at its website, http://www.albanypubliclibrary.org. As everything shakes out at Albany Public Library, one thing is very clear - this library is in the groove! |
